Q
Alan Moore's stuff, Go Nagai's Devilman and maybe Violence Jack, and Akira!!
A

Thanks for the suggestions. I have never read Devilman, Violence Jack, or Akira but all are on a slightly longer list for me. For some reason I hit a real wall with manga, there is only so much I can consume at once before I get all wild eyed and trembly. I have to decompress. I know that is a shitty thing to say, but I get exhausted. Maybe it’s the cultural differences in narrative or maybe I like colors like an infant. Who knows.

As for Alan Moore’s stuff, I didn’t include too much of it on the list because I am in a constant state of revisiting it. I keep worn copies of a lot of his books by my writing desk just to look at the way he structures and paces a page. I don’t remind myself to read Alan Moore too much because it is hard wired into my brain. I reach for Alan Moore books the way babies reach out to catch their mother’s fur when they start to fall. I am trying to get all the Miracle Man stuff and I should reread Swamp Thing because it has been too long though.
